Ash Wednesday Services!

It’s hard to believe it is Ash Wednesday…but it is. Today, 17 February, is called Ash Wednesday. It is the “official” start to the season of Lent…the 40 days (excluding Sundays) before Easter. It is a time to step back and reflect on your relationship with God. We will be observing the Lenten Season with a worship service tonight at 7pm at Deer Creek UMC. We will have time for songs, prayers, reflection, a message, entitled “Get it Right!” which puts forth some ideas of how to get your relationship with God on track–and why that is important. There will be an invitation to Lenten Discipleship (meaning, inviting you to join us on a journey towards finding ways to get closer to God) and the “imposition of the ashes” where, if you’d like, you can receive the mark of the cross on your forehead in ashes while being reminded that you are mortal, but if you confess your sins and believe in God, you will have eternal life. The words said during this are: “From dust you were formed and to dust you will return. Repent and believe the Gospel.”

Please join us for this time of reflection and rememberance. You are always welcome in God’s house! Peace to you.
