Christ is Alive! Easter Sunday Worship

Welcome back to Deer Creek Charge! We’re glad you came to join us. We had a contemplative Holy Thursday service and a humbling Good Friday service. Good Friday was a “Tenebrae” service–a service of light and darkness. As the drama of the scripture is read, candles are extinguished until even the light of Christ is put out. Our pastor sent us out from the service with these words, “The story is not over. Come back on Sunday to hear the rest of the narrative. But tonight, go forth from here, but not in peace; not tonight. Like the candles were extinguished, so too was the light of the world, Jesus Christ. Christ is dead, and you helped to kill him.” With those words, the congregation left in silence…pondering. No “amen” was said…because the story is not over. In fact, the early church used to have one continual service all the way through until Easter morning and sunrise!

This Sunday morning, join us as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ! The joy and elation will fill the air! We can’t wait to have you join us in the celebration! We will be holding 2 worship celebrations–9am at Deer Creek and 11am at Mt. Tabor. The sermon is titled, “Can I Get a Witness? Testify!” The choirs will be singing, flowers will decorate the worship space, and we will have a great children’s message! Deer Creek will also be having an egg hunt after worship! Won’t you come and join us in celebrating our Risen Savior? The invitation is there…our doors and our arms are open to welcome you in. We’d be honored to host you in God’s house!

Christ is Alive! Alleluia! Amen!

Announcements for this week follow:

An Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Deer Creek following the 9am worship service. All children (and young at heart!) are welcome to join us!

Are you interested in learning more about God and the Bible? Think about joining a Bible Study! The current Genesis study wraps up at the end of April. If you have a topic that you are interested in, or a day/time/location you would prefer to meet, please let Bonnie know. This study would most likely run through all or part of the summer. We’ll kick off others beginning in the fall too!

Help the Homeless near Mt. Tabor by bringing in “ready-to-eat” food. All cans MUST have “flip tops.” Examples: cans of fruit, granola Bars, tuna with crackers, juice boxes, water bottles, crackers, small peanut butter, fruit snacks, plastic utensils, etc. Place in the entrance in the location marked “Food for Homeless.”

Help the Sunday School! Bring juice boxes or a small snack (like animal crackers) to church for our youngest disciples. Location: Deer Creek.

Summer Camp is coming up! There are camps for all ages (even adults!) and family camps. See a brochure, go online to http://www.bwccampsandretreats.com or talk to Bonnie if you are interested. Scholarships are available. Discounts for campers who have family volunteer as a counselor for any age.
