Howdy! Welcome back to Deer Creek Charge! We’re so glad that you are thinking about joining us! We can’t wait to have you stop by! This week at the Creek, we have some great things going on…the sermon is “Hearing Voices,” and we’ll be talking about how to hear God’s voice between all the other “voices” we hear in daily life. The Scripture passage for the day is John 10:22-30…if you get a chance to read and ponder/meditate on it, great! If not, come on by as we ponder what it means together. We’ll be singing some old favorites for hymns, “In the Garden (I Come to the Garden Alone),” “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us,” and “All Things Bright and Beautiful.” The choir will have an anthem and we’ll still be proclaiming the resurrection of Christ! Yup! It’s still Easter! Hallelujah! Christ the Lord is Risen Today!

Lots of great stuff is coming up too…next Sunday, we’ll be having a special presentation during the sermon portion of the service from Life and Limb Ministries. This is a group of dedicated folks that go to Columbia, South America and fit people with prosthetics while proclaiming the Gospel message! We’ll be hearing about ministry around the globe and we’ll also be taking a special offering for this ministry (in addition to the regular offering). Join us as we hear about this ministry!

As we journey through the coming weeks, we often forget the message of Easter…Christ is alive! It’s easy to get bogged down with life, and “stuff.” But we need to keep remembering and celebrating the life, death and resurrection of our Savior. Join us as we continue to learn and grow into being the disciples Christ has called each one of us to be. May God bless you on this continual journey! And we hope to journey with you…come by the Creek! Peace.

Announcements:

Life and Limb Ministries will be coming to give a presentation during worship on May 2nd. This outreach ministry spreads the Gospel while fitting people for prosthetics in Columbia, South America. Check them out at http://www.lifeandlimb.org or come to worship on May 2nd! A love offering will be taken in addition to the regular offering that day.

A Worship Meeting for Deer Creek will be held after worship on May 2nd. This is to work towards our goals for the year as set forth by SPRC, and will be the first of several meetings. Questions to consider: What is worship? Why do we worship? What is needed to make something “worship”? Is there anything we are missing or would like to increase in frequency? Anything we would like to do away with/have less frequently? If you have suggestions but can’t attend, please write them down and  give them to someone else on your behalf. Location: Deer Creek.

Church Council will meet on Wednesday, May 5th at 7pm. Items on the agenda include: reimbursements, the parsonage, and a chair-person. If you have something that needs to go on the agenda, please let Bonnie know no later than Sunday, May 2nd. We will be following the agenda. Location: Deer Creek.

We need new faces to greet, usher, read scripture and serve communion! The May and June schedule is available at both churches. Please sign up for available dates. No experience necessary…we will train! (If you don’t volunteer, Bonnie will ask you!)

Are you interested in learning more about God and the Bible? Think about joining a Bible Study! If you have a topic that you are interested in, or a day/time/location you would prefer to meet, please let Bonnie know. This study would most likely run through all or part of the summer. We’ll kick off others beginning in the fall too!

For the Women… (Sponsored by Ames UMC in Bel Air)

A Note from Nancy Duffy: For both programs, we can carpool from Mt. Tabor or pick you up from your home. Contact Nancy for more info.

There will be a Pre-Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 1. Includes Fellowship, Food, and  Variety of Teas.

A Day of Prayer and Self Denial on Wednesday, May 5 at 6:30pm. Program and light dinner of soup and bread included. Please bring your own bowl and spoon.
