A lot of little bits of faith (Sunday, 3 October 2010)

Welcome back to Deer Creek Charge! We are so excited that you stopped by again! Worship today was Spirit-filled and exciting! We looked at our own heritage that has been handed down to us from our parents and grandparents, and contemplated what we could do to carry our faith and our congregations into the future if we had the faith the size of a mustard seed. A mustard seed isn’t very big, but when you put many of them together, BIG things can happen! A lot of little bits of faith can move trees, mountains and people closer to God! The sermon was entitled “A Faithful Heritage” and was based on 2 Timothy 1:1-14 and Luke 17:5-6.  Everyone was invited to feel what a lot of mustard seeds feels like, and was given an index card with a mustard seed on it and the words, “Have faith! Luke 17:5-6” written on them as a take-home reminder of the day’s message.

Today was also “World Communion Sunday” where we celebrated communion along with our sisters and brothers aroudn the world! We had several different types of bread too! What a joy it was to celebrate this with one another!

Yesterday was a yard sale at Mt. Tabor. There was a decent crowd, and the total profits are still being tallied. We hope that next time you will join us for one of our activities!

The only announcement this week is an “old” one–but an important one: Charge Conference is coming up in 2 weeks (Oct. 17) and will be held at Mt. Tabor after worship. Immediately after the service (about 12 noon) will be a potluck luncheon and the business meeting will begin shortly thereafter. Please plan to come! Both churches are invited and needed to attend.

May your week be faith-filled and a model of Christian living for those around you. We hope you will come by in-person some time and check us out! We are always glad to welcome you!
