Holy Week Worship Schedule

We might have just observed the start of Lent with Ash Wednesday, but our Holy Week worship schedule is posted below. We hope that you will join us for any or all of these experiences. Children are always welcome. Children’s bulletins are available at the entrance to Deer Creek, and Sunday School is held after a Children’s Message (Sundays only). Children’s bulletins are available upon request at Mt. Tabor. Please speak with the pastor.

Palm Sunday Join us at our “regular” worship times (9am–Deer Creek; 11am–Mt. Tabor) on Sunday, April 17, as we have a parade of palms to welcome Jesus! This is an intergenerational experience that you won’t want to miss! And for the “artsy” among us, you could even learn how to make a palm cross! After worship at Mt. Tabor, help us “strip” the sanctuary (take down all decorations) as we prepare for the Good Friday service.

Holy Thursday Join us on Thursday, April 21 at 7pm in the Deer Creek Sanctuary for a remembrance of the night that Jesus shared in the Upper Room with his disciples, before he was lead off to be crucified. This service will feature hymns (songs), a short message and communion. Can you imagine what it must have been like to be in Jesus’ inner circle? Come join us on this special night to see what it might have been like.

Good Friday Join us on Friday, April 22 at 7pm in the Mt. Tabor Sanctuary for a quiet, meditative story of Jesus’ last days before his crucifixion. This will be a “tenebrae” service–a service of light and darkness. We will start with many candles lit, and as the story is told, we will extinguish each one, until the last one is extinguished when Jesus died. But the story doesn’t end here! You’ll have to come back on Sunday to find out what happens! This moving service is mult-sensory.

Easter Sunday Alleluia! He is Risen! Join us on Sunday, April 24 to celebrate the most sacred and holy (set-apart) day in Christianity–Easter! Today, we rejoice that Jesus Christ, who was killed by humans was raised to life again by God to fulfill God’s promises and to bring life after death to all of us and to conquer sin. We should celebrate! We’ll be “pulling out all the stops” (fun fact: this phrase comes from the organ where the knobs are called “stops”–when you pull them all out, you have an amazing and full sound!) for today! Music, a relevent message, prayer, scripture and more will help us remember how joyful those first followers of Jesus were, and how we should live our lives too! Worship will be held at our “regular” times: 9am at Deer Creek; 11am at Mt. Tabor.

If you have any questions or concerns, please explore our website, email or call us. We would love to talk with you! May God bless you and your spiritual journey. We hope to see you around the Deer Creek Charge in the next few weeks–you are ALWAYS welcome here! Open hearts…Open doors…Open minds…Open arms…The people of Deer Creek Charge United Methodist Churches.
