In the Beginning…(Sunday, 19 June 2011)

Happy Father’s Day out there to all the dads! And thank you to all those men in our lives who have acted as role models and “dad” to us when we needed someone to lean on…whether or not they were fathers. Today in worship we will have a special prayer for all the men in our lives, however, the focus today will be on the scripture: Genesis 1:1-2:4a (That’s all of the first chapter of Genesis, and the first few verses of chapter 2). The sermon title is “In the Beginning” and there will be hand-outs and give-aways today as part of the sermon! You won’t want to miss this. We are beginning our conversation on how to tell our story, our church’s story and God’s story to those we meet.

We are starting into summer in full-swing…but don’t forget that the church is still here–join us for worship, and don’t forget your offerings…even when you travel! May God bless you. Hope to see you soon!

Announcements:

Thank you to all the men in our lives! We are grateful for you!

TODAY we will be having our 3rd Sunday Fellowship at Mt.  Tabor! Come join us after worship for food, fun, and fellowship! All are welcome!

The donations to the Magic Jar TODAY will go towards off-setting the costs of painting the ramp and stairs at Mt. Tabor.

Don’t forget the on-going food drives at both Deer Creek and Mt. Tabor! Even when we go away for the summer, hunger does not go away. Please remember to bring in your non-perishable items.

Summer camp brochures are available! Friends, Fun, Faith…learn about God in the outdoors while having a fabulous time! Camps for all interests and all ages, including families. Scholarships are available. Talk to Bonnie for details, grab a brochure, or go online to www.bwccampsandretreats.org.

Worship Fun Fact! Today is Trinity Sunday. It is always celebrated the Sunday after Pentecost. We explicitly observe one God in three persons today. 1+1+1 =1! This is a mystery. We don’t understand it, but we take it on faith that it is true. Can you think of a way to explain this concept to someone else?
