Great Expectations (Sunday, 1 April 2012)

Thanks for joining us! This week, we are celebrating Palm Sunday. There will be a Processional of the Palms, lots of singing and celebrating, and a solid message to apply to your life as we begin one of the most horrific weeks in human history–Holy Week. This week’s message centers on Mark 11:1-11, and we’ll be examining the expectations that the crowd had for Jesus as well as the expectations we have for Jesus, ourselves, and others. What happens when your expectations are not met…or are not met the way you want them to be met? What happens when your plans conflict with God’s plans? What then? How do you react? What does this mean for us individually and as a community? Come on out and see for yourself! We can’t wait to have you! We’ll also be celebrating Holy Communion today, on Thursday, and next Sunday.

This week is Holy Week. We have many opportunities for worship–please consider joining us and journeying with Jesus to the cross. Don’t jump from the joy of Palm Sunday to the joy of Easter without experiencing the trauma in between. These will not be your “typical” Holy Week services…they are designed for the whole family and are creative, innovative and traditional…all at the same time! You won’t want to miss this! Remember, Easter is the “Super Bowl” of the Christian year!

Note: If you need handicapped parking for Easter Sunday, be sure to arrive early to get the parking you need. There will be NO Sunday School on Easter Sunday–Family Worship instead! The service will be designed with children in mind. There will still be a Children’s Message, an extended Children’s Bulletin, and Worship Sacks available for your child. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Worship Fun Fact! Today is the last Sunday in the Church Season called “Lent.” It can be observed as either “Palm Sunday” or “Passion Sunday” or both. The Passion story is told especially in those cases where congregations do not come to or have Holy Week services. We will be observing Palm Sunday today, and hope you will journey with us to the cross later this week on Thursday and Friday.
