Everyday Miracles (Sunday, 22 April 2012)

Thanks for stopping by! We apologize for the late post…but hope you will join us for worship in the morning! We’ll be talking about “Everyday miracles”–you know, those places that make you stop in life and say “wow.” Everyday miracles are those places where God opens your eyes, heart, mind, soul, hands, and feet to something around you. Everyday miracles are little things that make a big difference. They make you realize the beauty of the world around you and give you hope and encouragement for the future. They are places where God is speaking into your life. They are “God moments” or “God sightings.” Often, everyday miracles are right in front of us…if we choose to look for them. They bring us a sense of greater understanding. They are everyday miracles.

Check out Luke 24:36b-49. Can you find the “everyday miracle” here?

Don’t forget our announcements below. Hope to see you soon! God bless…and may your eyes be opened to the everyday miracles in your life too.

Help feed the Homeless at the Day Shelter (New Hope UMC, Edgewood) on the 3rd FRIDAY (MT) and 4th MONDAY (DC) of each month (next: TOMORROW: April 23) We need people to make, deliver, and serve food.

DC will host a Collection Drive for the Homeless Shelter (new or used): Jeans (size 30-42), socks, men’s underwear, sleeping bags, blankets & tents (size 2-person and above). Place by the food in the back of the church. Deadline: April 22.

A Sunday Morning Wedding will take place at Deer Creek on May 20, at 9am, during the regular worship service. Join us as we celebrate with Bill Nelson and Gloria Anderson!

A Personal Note: I have been blessed to serve the Deer Creek Charge since Jan. 2010. Time has flown by, and in May, I will be graduating from Wesley Seminary. This is by ticket only, and I am unable to invite the congregations. However, I will be Commissioned as a Provisional Elder on Thursday, May 31, 7pm, at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel, Aliceanna Street, Baltimore; and you are all invited to attend (Carpool—parking is expensive). I would love to have my church family in attendance! ~Bonnie

Interested in Joining Deer Creek or Mt. Tabor? Come talk to Bonnie about what needs to happen to be an “official” member! New Members will join on May 27 (Pentecost), or another date that can be agreed upon.

Knit/Crochet No experience needed-will teach! Make scarves for the homeless or prayer shawls. Meets every other Friday at 7pm at Mt. Tabor. Next Meeting: April 27.

Summer Camp Brochures are available at both churches. Friends, Fun, Faith…learn about God in the outdoors while having a fabulous time! Camps for all interests and all ages (K & up), including families. Scholarships are available. Adults needed to council. Talk to Bonnie for details, grab a brochure, or go online to

Don’t forget the on-going food drives at both Deer Creek and Mt. Tabor!

Worship Fun Fact! Today is also considered “Earth Sunday” (the Sunday closest to Earth Day). Let’s praise God and give something back to the earth this week. Ideas include picking up trash, turning off the water while you brush your teeth, driving less, turning off the TV or computer for an hour (or more!), and educating yourself about good stewardship of the earth’s resources. What other ideas do you have?
