A Sunday Wedding…Watching and Waiting (Sunday, 20 May 2012)

Thanks for stopping by the Deer Creek Charge! We have so many exciting things going on…please be sure to check them out! This Sunday at Deer Creek, we will be celebrating a wedding of a long-time member and his bride. All the stops are coming out for this special day…and the best part is, everyone who comes to church on Sunday is invited to the wedding! (not the reception…but the ceremony, which will be held during our regular worship time of 9am).

At Mt. Tabor, we will be celebrating the last Sunday of the Christian season of Easter, which is called Ascension Sunday. It reminds us of when Jesus was “lifted up” to heaven after his resurrection and 40 days of of teaching. The sermon is entitled, “Waiting and Watching” and encourages us to wait and watch for Christ to return with expectation and hope; but to also help make God’s Kingdom a reality here on earth right now. Check out Acts 1:1-11 if you want a “preview” of worship. After worship, we will have our monthly 3rd Sunday Fellowship time with sandwiches, baked goods, other yummy food, fun, and friendship. All are welcome to attend.

Our Pastor, Bonnie McCubbin, will be moving to a new appointment (church) this summer. Her last Sunday preaching will be Sunday, June 3. You can read about this and the new pastor, Shannon Sullivan, at this blog post and in this Transition Letter 2012.

A Sunday Morning Wedding will take place at Deer Creek TODAY, during the regular worship service. Please leave your regular Sunday offering in the plates before or after worship. We will not pass the collection plates, but we still need to meet our budget. Join us as we celebrate with Bill Nelson and Gloria Anderson!

Third Sunday Fellowship is after worship TODAY at Mt. Tabor! Join us after worship for food, fun, and fellowship!
