Prepare the Way of the Lord!

Advent continues! Advent, the beginning of the Christian year, began for us last week and continues to Christmas Eve as we prepare for the birth of Christ. This week and next week we will be exploring the prophecies of John the Baptist as we read in Luke 3:1-18. We will focus on Luke 3:1-6 this week and 7-18 next week! We will be asking what voices we have heard calling out from the wilderness, what messangers have we heard calling us to prepare.

At Deer Creek this week, we will have a special treat: the dance ministry from Clark’s Chapel United Methodist Church! The dancers will minister to us at Mt. Tabor in January, but we will still have special music from our own Jenny!

We give thanks for the presence of Clark’s Chapel UMC’s dance ministry with us today! What a blessing! Praise be for the New Creation Praise Dancers!

Help feed the Homeless at the Day Shelter (New Hope UMC, Edgewood) on the 3rd Friday of the month (MT) and 4th Monday of each month (DC). Next: Dec. 21 (MT) and Christmas Eve (DC)!

Prayer for Advent:

Light of the World, we come to You in this season of Advent, a season of darkness as we wait for the Light to return. In the midst of the busy-ness of the season, of the Christmas preparations and celebrations, call us to pause. Call us to look around, and to see You at work in our world. Guide us to find new ways of living in to Your love and grace, to loving our neighbors as ourselves, to actively watch and wait for You to come into our lives in a new way. We know You have promised to do a new thing, to come in a new way, like a thief in the night— help us to be ready by living as You desire us to live, with Your love in our hearts, and to have Your love for all people. In the name of Jesus, who is the Light of the World, we pray. Amen. (Rev-o-lution)
